THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by a court since the year she assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who want to stay clear of the litigation and court process.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. While in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters involving child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career as she was an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
